Who in your opinion is the BEST NFL player to play. They have to be playing now, regardless if it's in the downswing of their careers.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Justin Smith, while a fantastic DE/DT, is on the wrong side of his career and although he is much more important than his 2012 numbers indicate (I mean, he was voted All-Pro in two different positions) I think Patrick Willis is the best player on that defense, which is saying a lot.

And Pookie is right, it's rare that a running back is the representative for a team. Usually it's "*best player* & *team name*. Revis & the Jets. Franchise Quarterback + Lucky Team, etc.

I can't really think of any other team that would have their running back in that position, other than the Vikings. Doug Martin, perhaps :p

The reason I have AP up so high is how the league as completely changed for running backs. He still however knots up 2K after having a terrible injury the previous season. He really is the last of his kind aka bruiser backs.

He's more than just that. He's a unique blend of perfect running back characteristics that really hasn't been seen in the NFL in a very long time. He's nuts. He had at least, what, 30 or 40 less carries than Dickerson and was only nine yards away from breaking the record. On that last long run at the end of the 4th quarter in the Green Bay Packers game week 17, I was screaming. I knew he was a little short and almost wanted Blair Walsh to miss the chip shot field goal so he could get the record :p

I'm gonna have to go with Pat Willis. From a scouting perspective, the guy is the most well rounded athletically and technically sound linebacker I've ever seen.
